We recently closed a highly technical leadership role for an MSP client in just 12 days.

Yes, really! We found (dare I say) a unicorn in under two weeks.

It was a big win, and we’d love to see more of it. So, we took a moment to reflect on what made it possible, and how we can replicate and improve the process moving forward.

An old client reached out to us for help with an Infrastructure Engineer role. They were replacing someone who was, without a doubt, a solid engineer. But over time, it became clear there were growing misalignments in how things were being done. They tried to bridge the gap but ultimately realized it wasn’t a performance issue; it was a mismatch between their culture and his work style.

Luckily, they came to us. Culture-based hiring is our bread and butter at MSP Hire.

We clearly defined what they liked from their engineer and what they needed more of moving forward. They were able to talk to us about their ideal candidate’s preferred work environment, motivation, risk tolerance, communication style, and all the little things that made them tick.

That clarity made all the difference. Because they had such a specific vision of their ideal candidate, we knew exactly what success looked like.

We posted the job and made it as attractive as possible. Then something rare happened.
We interviewed the very first candidate and instantly knew: this was the one.
We sent his resume to the client right away, and they didn’t waste time.

They reached out to the candidate and scheduled an in-person interview for the next day. Everyone in the room felt it was a great match. They scheduled a follow-up meeting—not to keep testing him, but to show him why he should take the role and join their team.

After that weekend, they extended an offer beyond what the candidate originally asked for, knowing he was worth every penny and more. The next day, he accepted.

Twelve days from start to finish.

Sure, there was a little bit of luck involved, but luck doesn’t mean much if you’re not ready to act on it.

In our client’s case, things lined up because they:

✅ Took time to clarify exactly what they needed in their ideal candidate
✅ Trusted our process and acted quickly when we sent someone over
✅ Positioned themselves as the team their ideal candidate wanted to join
That clarity from the very beginning gave them the confidence to move fast when the right person came along—and not let him slip through the cracks.

This placement is a great example of what we aim to deliver for every client – and it all starts with clarity.

Knowing exactly who you’re looking for makes it so much easier to spot the right person when they show up.

If you’re looking to hire soon and want help getting clear on what (and who) you really want, let’s chat. We’d love to help you find your next team member.
